Socialisation, Socialisation, Socialisation!

We hear this a lot once we bring a pup into our lives, but why is it so important? This is where doggy daycare can really help give our dogs the fun and learning they need.

Our dogs are more than just a pet- they are beloved members of the family, and like anyone in our family we want them to be happy and healthy. Socialisation is a vital part of a dogs' life.

It is important to start socialisation from a young age if possible (around 11-12 weeks). In a short period of time they learn the building blocks to becoming a happy dog. They learn this from other dogs by playing- like having a special (secret) language only they understand.

If a dog hasn't been socialised with dogs and people from a young age, they may have difficulties as an adult dog- this doesn't have to be forever though, it may just take time and training. Dogs are beautiful loyal creatures and want to make us happy- with lots of play, obedience training, love and patience, you will have a happy social doggo.

While at Bark Side, socialisation is supervised by experienced staff and dogs are mixed by similar age, size and character. Even though we are licensed to take up to 25 dogs we keep our number low to reflect our staff, each staff managing up to 6/7 dogs.
